Monday, May 14th, come join your child in the gardens! Classes will rotate among stations around the school. Volunteers are also needed in the front courtyard, in the butterfly garden behind the school, and in the bird garden by the chicken coop. Please contact Ms. Ayala if you can help!
Come keep Mr. Abbott company in the garden on Saturday mornings and he might just repay you in donuts or something yummy. He’ll be out there again this Sat., May 12th, from 9-1 and appreciates volunteers greatly.
The stucco work was a bit tricky, but now we’re to the fun part of attaching the tiles with goop. Kids can help too (they have been at school and they’re doing beautiful work!). Stop by for however long you can spare. Even 30 mins. is a big help, or stay the whole 4 hours.

• current proof of residence (lease, utility bill)
• parent/guardian picture ID

Come visit us this Thursday, April 19th from 5:30-7PM to hear about some of the exciting things going on at Ridgetop in Art, Music, P.E, and the Library.
We will present information about the amazing “Fuel Up to Play 60” grant that the district is implementing at all campuses, and which we will be implementing at Ridgetop in the near future. This grant will allow us to paint stencils for activity stations around our school, creating opportunities for healthy movement and cross-curricular learning activities! We will be needing volunteers, so please come to hear about it and sign up to help!
Ms. Nunnery will speak about what students are learning in Music through the excellent “Music Memory” program going on now at Ridgetop.
Learn about the grants received this year in the Library and opportunities for Library time during the summer.
Mr. Abbott will briefly present about the mosaic project going on in the garden, and then we will ask for you to join in for some hands-on work on the project.
The AISD youth art month Exhibition is up for viewing from March 23 – April 16th, 2012.

Thanks to all who volunteered their time over the past two Saturdays to smash tile and add stucco to the raised bed so that it’s ready for the mosaic. The project is coming along! (See the Garden page or Ridgetop Elementary PTA’s facebook page for photos.)

One year ago, over 13,000 people gathered in Austin to speak out against budget cuts to public education. It was the largest capitol rally in modern Texas history! However, our legislators chose not to listen. Now, we need to come back before the primary elections to let them know, “We’re watching, We Remember and We VOTE!” It’s important that every candidate know that education is an issue that they CAN’T IGNORE!
Make plans now to join us in an even larger rally. Say NO to underfunding our schools! Say NO to overcrowded classrooms and overworked teachers! Say NO to millions spent on an out-of-control testing system! Say YES to educating our children for the future!
The STS March begins at 11 am at 12th and Trinity. Rally begins at noon on the south steps of the Capitol.
Today marks the 100th Day of School! Students will be marking the occasion with a parade, festive clothing and lots of math with 100s! That’s a lot of days under their belts.
