We’ll be holding our first PTA meeting of the school year on Monday, August 30th at 3pm in the library.

A few things on the agenda are:

• reviewing the budget
• deciding/setting time for future meetings
• Fall Festival and other fundraising ideas
• committees
• setting the agenda for the next meeting
• so much more!

Please bring suggested dues of $10 per family to the meeting if possible.  Our PTA is not JUST about fundraising though it is a necessary evil in any school.  Our PTA is small and that gives you a stronger voice in what happens in our school.  Please join us to find out what it’s all about!

Please join your child/ren for lunch! What a great way to  make them feel extra special while adjusting to the new school year and meet the kids in their class.  Be sure to check in and get your visitors badge in the office!

Be sure to check out all of the fun things hanging around the school.  Our teachers have worked hard to create a fun learning environment!

For the new parents, I thought it might help to know some of the ways
to stay involved and be a presence for your children at the school
even as they grow up and become big kid elementary students! Ridgetop
is a very open school when it comes to families and they appreciate
parent involvement. Here are some ways to join in:

• Every morning, all the grades meet in the Auditorium. They do silent reading until it’s Announcement time at 7:45 and you’re welcome to sit with your child and read. Quite a few parents hang around outside the Auditorium to listen to Announcements too.
• From the Auditorium, older grades and younger grades rotate every other day going to Wellness. Exercising in the gym is a good way to wake kids up and get their energy out. Parents can join in!
• Eat lunch with your child! They love it and you’ll get to know the other children in the class (because they’ll talk to you the entire time!). Younger siblings can come too and feel like big kids. • Find out your child’s library day/time and ask your teacher if it’s all right if you come. The librarian Ms. Rice does not mind visitors.
• Join in Garden Days at the school where classes come out in shifts all day to work on the gardens (dates TBA). At the first PTA meeting, we’ll talk about other more “official”/ volunteering opportunities and ways to get involved, but have fun doing the above!

We all know our staff and students are exemplary but now TEA recognizes that, too!  Happy first week of school to our fabulous staff!

Our pergola is under construction

Thanks to our generous volunteers construction of the garden pergola began this week, creating an outdoor learning space.

Thanks to our volunteers we couldn’t do it without you!

All of the students are now tending their own garden plots.

Please stop by and walk the grounds of our school to see all of the new additions!

• strawberry patch by the 3rd grade portable
• succulent garden by the 4th grade portable
• 4 new beds (pre-K – 2nd grade) in the courtyard
• fig and plum trees out by the chicken coop
• new garden beds for 4th and 5th grade in the back fenced area
• as well as a watermelon, pumpkin patch!
